Community Music Practitioner (4 positions)
Chesterfield Cultural Education Partnership is seeking four Community Music Practitioners to co-deliver our Inspire Chesterfield Fusion Music project
Contract: Fixed Term
Hours: 3 x 1.5 hour sessions delivered once per week during the month of September 2020
Salary: £25 per hour

Chesterfield Cultural Education Partnership is a group of organisations based in Chesterfield who collaborate to promote our local culture and heritage through the creative arts. The Partnership’s mission is to ensure that every person has access to a life which is creative, healthy and rich in culture. Our inclusive and accessible activities aim to raise aspirations and empower people to learn new skills, take ownership, and make positive changes – promoting a healthy lifestyle for mind and body.
The Fusion Music project is being led by Community Growth CIC and Kakou CIC.
Details :
We are looking for four community music practitioners to join our team to lead on the delivery of Fusion Music.
Fusion Music is a project designed to provide a fun, uplifting and creative way for community engagement with the arts during this time of lockdown.
Weekly sessions will be delivered remotely, through online resources that enable people to explore music through performance, technology and composition.
The main outcome of the project is a virtually-recorded piece of music featuring the Fusion Music Ensemble – the community of Chesterfield.
The Fusion Music Ensemble consists of four sections:
- Vocals – three part harmony (soprano, alto and tenor)
- Instruments – whatever instrument you play or can make! We will be including links to making your own instruments out of household items or using free online apps.
- Rhythm section – percussion of any kind.
- Sign Language – for those who wish to take part using British Sign Language
We will require one music practitioner to lead each section of the ensemble.
Successful applicants will have:
- Excellent musical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults
- Experience of working with community groups or in community settings.
Experience of using online tools to deliver remote sessions is not essential as training will be provided.
Musical arrangements and learning materials will be provided.
